Post two on the benefits of kefir, this series is from an analysis on the benefits of both commercial and artisanal kefir. It also demonstrates studies done on some of the components of kefir like EPS (exopolysaccharide).

Since most studies in my book are on whole kefir product, usually commercial, some of these results can be misleading as the effects of the whole are extremely beneficial as compared to components. While kefiran and EPS have been shown to have unique properties and demonstrable benefits on cancer, for the most part the whole product shows more potency and efficacy. By products from the whole natural fermentation and degradation process also demonstrate remarkable benefits that might not translate  for a component when and if they try to re-create them as a drug.

Cholesterol is not a cause of cardiac conditions. Kefir is a modulatory bio active substance; the described non effectiveness on some parameters probably shows that those parameters don’t have the significance in cardiac conditions previously ascribed to them. Change in fatty acid metabolism in accumulated fat for plasma glucose control is one example, not a significant factor as compared to inflammation control. Anti oxidant effect is another that had little effect on heart conditions according to this analysis. Preventing obesity and inhibiting ACE protein appear to be the stronger associations due to more potent kefir effect which again is subjectively modulatory. Unlike drugs with direct effects that aren’t easily modulated, often requiring secondary mechanisms for synthesis, kefir works differently causing no harm. I’m sure to this can translate to no effect or misleading conclusion. Diabetes is but another condition where cause and effect associations appear to be in question. In other words if the organism doesn’t require bio modulation, bio active substances often cause no effect. Chondroitin sulfate is extremely beneficial at removing arterial plaque.

Below is the probiotic I recently decided to try, Extra Care Probiotic Complex, a brief review. Due to the high bifido count and low cost I think it is an excellent addition to your probiotic complexes. The count is 80 billion per capsule. I am not an Amazon affiliate.

Personal commentary:

Facilitating, affirming, legitimizing serious moral transgressions like substance abuse only ensures the person will continue to engage in self destructive behavior that has predictable results, most of which are negative such as jail, suicide or death. Conversion offers the only positive. It is not charity as the person will never resume balance due to your interference. Hoping to prevent the consequence of poor lifestyle choices is also not charity. In the end these are moral dilemmas, not biological, not psychological. There is no escape from universal justice and denial of the natural order is insanity as even the abstract concept submits to natural order, this order is not conceived by you and you have virtually no control over it. It is not your realm. Avoid the vortex of crazy as much as humanly possible, including via authorities. Too much time in the vortex of crazy (deliberately unconscious society) will drive you insane. The enablers of self destruction will surely line up to take your place out of a false sense of charity so extricate yourself and be aware of the dynamic; they will also eventually be forced to face universal order. Recognize the limits of obligation no matter how heart wrenching the scenario or the mental anguish it causes. Hold fast to truth and true charity. Of course, they’ll all hate you for it but you won’t escape your own destruction if you facilitate the dynamic. You’ll almost always be placed in situations beyond your own mental ability to navigate, if so seek trusted counseling as I had to four years ago, luckily I got set pretty straight on my own failures regarding charity, obligation and keeping the peace. There would be no more attempts at juggling fire in the vortex of crazy.

Thieves have no honor because criminals can’t keep their mouth shut….divine justice. Error can claim no right and in the end there is also no civility so don’t expect any. Catholics confess to restore balance under justice. There will be no affirmation of that which is not good….. ever. No one escapes divine justice even if they have to use their own rope. I repeat the person will never achieve balance if you interfere in that process, therefore causing harm (we’re talking about someone capable here). Nominalism is the attempt of man to re-define not just perceive nature. Good luck with that.

Benefits Of Kefir For Cardiac Conditions

Fermentation of a milk matrix produces kefir.

Regular consumption of kefir has been associated to the reduction of severity of inflammatory bowel disease, antihypertensive effect, anticarcinogenic effect, increased insulin sensitivity, improved lipid profile, therapeutic effects on osteoporosis, and neurodegenerative disease. The positive health effects have been related to the antioxidant capacity and modulation of the intestinal microbiota by the kefir drink.

Effect on Serum Cholesterol and Accumulation of Fat in the Adipose Tissue

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the major leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Deaths by CVD are attributable to manageable risk factors, the main ones being high total serum cholesterol, high blood pressure, and smoking. In addition, hypercholesterolemia is one of the risk conditions related to obesity. Reducing total serum cholesterol and fat accumulation in adipocytes is one of the strategies used to prevent CVD. However, pharmacological drugs to treat obesity cause several side effects related to blood pressure, hepatic failure, pancreatitis, and headaches. Treatment on natural compounds for the treatment of obesity should be encouraged.

Among the bioactive compounds from kefir, only EPS (exopolysaccaride) has been associated with lowering adipocyte fat and cholesterol. Lactococcus lactis, Lactobacillus kefiri, and Leuconostoc mesenteroides were the microorganisms identified as producers of these EPSs in the kefir. It must be taken into account that microorganisms became unable to continue the EPS production when they died from heating. Indeed, the greater the growth of the EPS-producing microorganism, the greater the cholesterol removal rate from the medium was demonstrated.

Similarly, kefir supplementation, which did not lead to a modulation of gut microbiota, is associated with low propionic acid production in the colon, which is insufficient to promote changes in the serum cholesterol level. Also, the diet’s inclusion of extract rich in polyphenol (wine grape seed flour -2.5%, v/v) did not alter the serum cholesterol levels. Thus, antioxidative capacity may not be a significant factor in reducing blood cholesterol levels.

On the other hand, the EPS ability to reduce the fat accumulation is confirmed. EPS isolated from strains of Lactobacillus kefiri and Leuconostoc mesenteroides showed inhibition (up to 28%) of lipid accumulation this inhibition, in general, occurred in a dose-dependent manner. In addition, the minimum concentration of EPS to obtain the effect appeared to be strain-dependent. These findings imply that the functional potential of EPS on fat accumulation varies according to its microbial origin.

Bioactive compounds in kefir were tested on glucose metabolism in obesity and diabetes models. Oral administration of a mixture of EPS-producer Leuconostoc mesenteroides and Lactobacillus kefiri during eight weeks did not affect the plasma glucose level in diet-induced obese mice. However, this treatment effectively reduced adipocyte tissue weight by 36%, in addition to downregulating the proinflammatory and fatty acid synthesis gene expression in the adipocytes. This fact indicates that the regulation of fatty acid metabolism in adipose tissue is not a determining factor in promoting a significant change in plasma glucose.

*Regular consumption of whole kefir product does reduce glucose levels in serum.

A diet supplemented with EPS-producer lactic acid bacteria during eight weeks reduced by 36% the adipose tissue weight in mice fed a high-fat and high-fructose diet. This suggests that EPS from kefir’s microorganisms can be a functional ingredient capable of being used in obesity cases. EPS performance occurred through action on adipose tissue; expression of proinflammatory genes was lowered by 56% and 57%, respectively compared to the control group. Also, the expression of genes related to the synthesis of fatty acids was downregulated by 55% and 43%. This demonstrates that EPS has roles in anti-inflammation and inhibiting the fatty acid synthesis in adipocytes. However, these effects did not result in serum cholesterol changes.

Interestingly, supplementation of the diet with HLAB in conjunction with wine grape seed flour (2.5%), which is rich in polyphenol, potentiated the effect of reducing fat accumulation by 25%. Therefore, antioxidant activity may be a relevant factor for reducing fat accumulation and can enhance the impact of EPS on adipocytes. Consequently, the synergistic treatment was the only one capable of significantly reducing the serum triglyceride.

Antihypertensive Effect

Hypertension is a chronic disease that leads to an increase in blood pressure. Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) is a key component of the renin-angiotensin system as part of the homeostatic mechanism to maintain adequate blood pressure levels in mammals. Conversion of ACE 1 to ACE 2 (an enzyme with a vasoconstrictor effect) is a common mechanism to regulate blood pressure. In abnormal conditions, this constriction can cause high blood pressure and increase the work required for the heart to pump blood into the body’s main arteries. In this way, inhibition in the conversion of ACE 1 to ACE 2 plays a role in managing hypertension. ACE activity was reduced by 98.4% in the milk after fermentation with kefir grains for 24 h. The effect observed was attributed to bioactive peptides released by kefir’s microorganisms during the fermentation. This suggests that bioactive peptides from kefir can have the potential to be used in the treatment of hypertension.

In essence…

The natural precursor of ‘gut and immune disorders’ is a dysfunctional autophagic or phagocytic system associated with SAM (severe acute malnutrition) resulting in hundreds if not thousands of chronic ‘conditions’ that worsen over time. See about page for more info and some short lists of these chronic conditions (can eventually impact any and all bodily systems). In the elderly or immune compromised this can occur as ‘senescence’ of the immune system or ‘tolerance’ (an altered immune response, usually over inflammatory). This condition can begin at birth. The immune system includes the ability to detox. The ’cause’ of these conditions is not diet. They can begin or be made worse by acquired immune deficiency syndromes. Natural oral immune therapy ‘resets’ the gut as close to nature as possible as it occurs at birth and helps restore nutrition, tolerance and homeostasis as well as providing anti oxidant protection.

Colostrum and other friendly organisms provide signals to the immune system by inducing tolerance to food and noninvasive antigens, thus avoiding the onset of an abnormal immune response while promoting its maturation and an adequate immune response against pathogens at the same time.
In the absence of A, B, or C (see hierarchy of risk factors in alternavita critical info) it must be D, follow the known intoxicant.

Alternavita: All you need to know (critical info in a nutshell)..... by focusing exclusively on these foundational health and immune development issues up to 90% of chronic conditions can be eliminated.

WHO STATEMENTS: 2017 Millennium Goal

  1. Breastfeeding,
  2. food (security)
  3. and water security (sanitation)

are major protective factors against malnutrition and critical factors in the maturation of healthy gut microbiota, characterized by a transient bifidobacterial bloom before a global rise in anaerobes. Early depletion in gut Bifidobacterium longum, a typical maternal probiotic, known to inhibit pathogens, represents the first step in gut microbiota alteration associated with severe acute malnutrition (SAM). Later, the absence of the Healthy Mature Anaerobic Gut Microbiota (HMAGM) leads to deficient energy harvest, vitamin biosynthesis and immune protection, and is associated with diarrhea, malabsorption and systemic invasion by microbial pathogens. A therapeutic diet and infection treatment may be unable to restore bifidobacteria and HMAGM.

Researchers found that malnourished children’s microbiota failed to follow the healthy pattern they identified in healthy children. The microbiota of malnourished children is immature, lagging in development behind that of their healthy peers. Supplementing these children’s meals with widely used therapeutic foods that increase calories and nutrient density reduces deaths from malnutrition, but it does not fix their persistent microbiota immaturity.

“Perhaps more insidious than slowing growth is malnutrition’s effect on less visible aspects of health, including impaired brain development and dysfunctional immunity, which follow these children throughout their lives”.

SIBO

SIBO can cause severe malabsorption, serious malnutrition and immune deficiency syndromes in children (non breastfed) and adults.

Prognosis is usually serious, determined mostly by the underlying disease that led to SIBO.

Immunizations

The WHO recommends that immunization or treatment be orally administered due to economic, logistical and security reasons. Furthermore, this route offers important advantages over systemic administration, such as reducing side effects, as the molecules are administered locally and have the ability to stimulate the GALT immune responses  (Levine and Dougan, 1998Neutra and Kozlowski, 2006Bermúdez-Humarán et al., 2011).

Infections

For ANY infectious or parasitic disease to start, it is ALWAYS a requisite that the host suffer IMMUNODEFICIENCY. At the same time, infectious and parasitic diseases themselves cause additional IMMUNE SUPPRESSION and more MALNUTRITION. This immune suppression is SECONDARY to the accumulation of free radicals, especially oxidizing species, that occurs during and after infectious and parasitic diseases.

Current IBD Research 2016

Currently available treatments for IBD, which target the systemic immune system, induce immunosuppression, thereby exposing the patient to the risk of infections and malignancy. The interplay between the gut and the systemic immune system determines the final effect on target organs, including the bowel mucosa. Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are associated with an altered systemic immune response leading to inflammation-mediated damage to the gut and other organs.

Most importantly, the immune modulatory agents used today for IBD do not achieve remission in many patients.

Not all IBD patients benefit from currently available drugs. Young people with IBD do not want to be on long-term drug therapy. Oral immune therapy, while not yet studied in large cohorts of patients, may provide an answer to this unmet need.

Tolerance

Tolerance is the ability of the immune system to ‘see’ and respond appropriately. Without galactose (a necessary sugar) the immune system can not 'see'. Your immune system would not be able to function without galactose Your body wouldn’t know which cells are “good” and what cells are “bad.” Your body wouldn’t know who the invaders were and which ones should be attacked by antibodies. As you will learn the importance of these ‘sugars’ in gut microbiota health is a rapidly expanding field of research, only recently discovered, including HMO's (human milk oligosaccharides).

Why galactose? Milk sugar aka lactose has been shown to be very beneficial for the human body though unlike sucrose, lactose is made up of glucose and galactose. There is no fructose in lactose. It is a healthy disaccharide sugar. Galactose is known as the “brain sugar” and supports brain development of babies and children. Galactose helps triggers long-term memory formation. Galactose has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and stop its spread, particularly to the liver. This beneficial sugar can also enhance wound healing, decrease inflammation, enhances cellular communication, and increases calcium absorption.
What does immune ‘tolerance’ mean in simple language?
Immune tolerance, or immunological tolerance, or immunotolerance, is a state of unresponsiveness of the immune system to substances or tissue that have the capacity to elicit an immune response in a given organism. The Th1 cytokine profile is vital for clearance of certain organisms and ancillary immune activity, and a limiting effect on this cytokine profile may result in reduced chances for overcoming infections especially intra-cellular organisms residing within macrophages. Effective clearance will depend on appropriate macrophage activation (which occurs through IFN≥ release by Th1 and NK cells) and production of nitric oxide. If this pathway is disrupted IFN≥ secretion is blocked, impairing macrophage activation. Persistent blockade of these inhibitory receptors has lead to the breakdown in immune self tolerance, thereby increasing susceptibility to autoimmune or auto-inflammatory side effects, including rash, colitis, hepatitis and endocrinopathies. Many drugs may cause checkpoint blockade toxicity including pharmaceutical drugs termed ‘immuno therapy’ by pharmaceutical companies, these include Mab drugs and cancer treatments. The Elderly

Mammal milk is required for enhanced phagocytosis as shown by research, especially in the elderly. Whole fat mammal milk can actually restore phagocytosis in senescent cells in the elderly. Phagocytosis, by which immune cells ‘eat’ bacteria or infected cells, is one of the mechanisms that help to resist infections. Lactic acid bacteria strains like acidophilus also increases phagocytosis.
